Fatima Naoot graduated as a architecture engineering at the Ein Shams University in 1987. After working as an engineer for ten years she decided to devote herself to literature full time. She currently edits the literary-cultural magazine Qaws Qazah (rainbow). Fatima Naoot made her debut as a poet in 2001 and has published four collections so far. She writes articles and reviews for Arab-language periodicals and newspapers in Europe, the Unites States and the Middle East. The manuscript of her fifth volume was rewarded with the first prize in the Arabic literature section of the Literary festival in Hong Kong in 2006. Her work has been translated into English, French, German and Kurdish.
